Google ups efforts to map wheelchair accessibility | Eltis
Google is seeking to make its Maps feature more useful for people with reduced mobility. Whilst it is already indicated if a location is wheelchair accessible, Google is now seeking to crowdsource data from its 30 million Local Guides found worldwide in an attempt to add more accessibility-related data. When a review is submitted for a location, the guides will now be asked to answer five simple questions related to mobility, including whether a building has accessible entrance, bathrooms, parking or lifts. A guide on judging accessibility has been sent out to those without any disabilities.
