Cities and towns, no matter their size, bring together the majority of the social, economic, and environmental issues questioned and redefined today in light of climate change, other phenomena linked to the Anthropocene, and the resurgence of major global pandemics. As we begin to emerge from the health crisis, and as cities and regions experience their post-covid revival, it is urgent to redefine our visions of the sustainable city of tomorrow, as the concepts posited in the twentieth century no longer apply.
