    The 16th IFAC Symposium on Control in Transportation Systems (CTS 2021) will be held on June 8-10, 2021, in the Lilliad congress center at Lille Campus, France. The Symposium provides an interesting opportunity for the academic and industrial communities to investigate new ideas, share innovative solutions, and discuss future research directions in the area of control in transportation systems. The main scope of the Symposium refers to the development of automatic control methods and tools for the analysis, supervision and management of transportation systems. The new challenges that face transportation systems nowadays, in terms of performance, safety, security and sustainability require the development of new tools to boost the changes in progress. In particular, the advent of autonomous mobility such as self-driving cars, autonomous ships and autonomous shipping; is a technological breakthrough that requires the setting up of new control and monitoring means such as those based on artificial intelligence, in order to achieve the highest performance and safety standards.
