Although not a novelty, recent growth in computing power, availability of data and progress in algorithms have turned Artificial Intelligence (AI) into one of the most strategic technologies of the 21st century. The European Commission has been working with Member States through a coordinated approach, to create a European framework for developing and using AI for ‘good and for all’. An important element of the European AI Strategy and Coordinated plan is to increase efforts for the take-up of ethical, human-centric and secure AI in areas of public interest.
