Nomination of European Commissioner for Transport and Space | UITP - Advancing Public Transport
Maroš Šefčovič, a 48-year old Slovak currently in his third European Commission term, has been designated as European Commissioner in charge of Transport and Space. Mr Šefčovič entered at the end of the first Barroso Commission in 2009 and became Vice President in charge of Inter-Institutional Relations and Administration in 2010. In 2014, he was selected by his country and Jean-Claude Juncker gave him the Transport and Space portfolio. His nomination still has to be approved by the European Parliament during the hearing which will take place on 30 September.
