Showcase: RATP’s new T7 tramline at The European Mobility Conference Moving Together | UITP - Advancing Public Transport
With a length of 11.2 km, the T7 is Paris’ latest tramline. Opened in December 2013, it serves 18 stations between the towns of Villejuif and Athis-Mons, as well as Orly airport in under 30 minutes. An extension of the line is planned during a second phase, which will allow it to reach Juvisy-sur-Orge.
The main aim of the new line is to improve the commute between suburbs – something that was sorely needed, thanks to the presence of more than 300,000 people who live and work in the area. With a tram running every 6 minutes, the T7 will transport nearly 30,000 commuters per day. It will also be super-accessible, as it features low flooring and adapted platforms which will ensure safe access for people with reduced mobility.
