How Paris will plant 170,000 trees by 2026

The cult of the tree takes root in Paris. In a city so dense, mineral, polluted, facing climate change and attacks on biodiversity, it has become an object of veneration. The slightest slaughter is a tragedy. The smallest plantation, a celebration. The mayor, Anne Hidalgo, promised – in February 2020, in the JDD – to plant “170,000 in six years, wherever possible”. His deputy in charge of revegetation of public space, green spaces and biodiversity, Christophe Najdovski (EELV), today reveals the axes of the “foreground trees of the City of Paris”. He will give “the kick-off of the consultation” on Wednesday, in the company of several environmental associations. The final plan must be adopted by the Paris Council in the summer of 2021.
