Vision Zero Buoyed by Progress in Longest-Running Programs – Vision Zero Network
New York City reported a 28% decrease in the number of people dying in traffic crashes, down to 214 in 2017 from 299 in 2013, the year before Vision Zero was launched. This includes a significant reduction in deaths of people walking, which decreased by 45% – 184 to 101 – from 2013 to 2017. NYC and San Francisco, which were the nation’s first two cities to commit to Vision Zero in 2014, both recorded their safest years on record in 2017.
