Transparency measures for nanomaterials: impact assessment, public consultation and workshop

Enterprise and Industry - European Commission - News Transparency measures for nanomaterials: impact assessment, public consultation and workshop

The European Commission is conducting an impact assessment on transparency measures for nanomaterials on the market. This is in response to concerns from certain stakeholders and Member States that the current level of available information on the presence of nanomaterials and products containing nanomaterials on the market may be insufficient for an adequate response to health and environmental risks and for informed consumer choice. Over the course of the impact assessment exercise, a number of policy options are being defined, refined and assessed, such as a single nanoregistry at an EU level with different variations, a structured effort to collect available information on nanomaterials, a recommendation on best practices for national registries or no additional action compared to the current legal framework.
